Holistic Massage FAQsQ. Why do you ask about medical history? A. In certain medical conditions massage may not be advisable or may need to be tailored. Q. Why use massage oils? A. Massage oils nourish the skin and ease the flow of the massage movements. Without oils the movements may cause soreness and irritation. Some techniques do not use oils, for example, Indian Head massage can be performed fully clothed. Q. Will my allergy to nuts mean massage oils cannot be used? A. No. Massage oils can still be used, but ensure that you advise the therapist of your allergy so that nut based oils will not be used. Q. Why do I need to follow your after care advice? A. After care advice seeks to extend the therapeutic affects of massage well beyond the period of the treatment. Advice may include: drinking water to assist in the detoxification and potential dehydration that massage has brought about, avoid over confidence in the extension of muscles, tendons and ligaments that you may feel you can achieve, avoid alcohol, and be prepared for slight dizziness in the first 10-15 minutes following a massage. Other advice may be given depending on the nature of the treatment. Q. What sort of clothes should I wear when I arrive for a treatment? A. Wear clothes that are comfortable and will not be harmed from any residual oil on your skin. |
